Clients are mainly professional services firms (law firms, accountants and property consultants), but my skills are equally applicable for other B2B companies which need marketing communications services.

 

I have broad-ranging experience in marketing, communications, brand creation and development, business development and team leadership so will be able to tailor a solution.   If needed, I can access a wide network of recommended specialists to assist with graphic design, digital and websites, brand development, research and other specialist areas.

Counsel & Advice

From planning a single-issue profile raising campaign to ongoing PR and communications support, including crisis communications, I support clients on a project and retainer basis. 

 

This includes PR planning and media relations, managing communications through a crisis, internal communication programmes and advising on how to utilise your digital channels to increase your profile and reputation.   Services include writing news releases and articles, editing and placing longer technical articles and liaising with journalists on your behalf.

 

I have experience of preparing pre-interview media briefings for business leaders and managing complex and difficult news stories.   Winning awards is a great way to boost profile by achieving recognition for business innovations and it also increases internal morale.   I identify the most appropriate awards to enter to support your strategic ambitions and draft entries on behalf of clients.  I also advise on legal industry directory research submissions.

Strategic marketing initiatives help to position your organisation in the market and build your firm’s reputation in its chosen fields.   Planned marketing increases brand awareness and favourability, opens doors to new business enquiries, and makes your partners and directors more likely to succeed in meeting their new business targets.   Integrated marketing campaigns also provide support for your sales and business development teams by targeting certain market segments, services or sectors.    

 

I assist with the creation of a content marketing programme and other complementary marketing activities including drafting of brochures, website content, client briefings to send via your CRM system, editing of technical articles and media news releases as well as event management.

 

A prerequisite for any effective marketing support is a thorough understanding of who you are targeting and existing market/client perceptions.   I undertake client/customer and market listening exercises and research on a project basis to enable you to be more effective with your marketing.

Having managed large in-house teams, I know how difficult it can be to deliver these large one-off projects alongside the “day job”.  

 

I work collaboratively with in-house teams and their brand, design or website agencies to project manage new websites and brand initiatives.  This includes:

 

  • Project/budget planning and management

  • Agency selection

  • Research

  • Definition of brand values and how they interrelate with a firm’s internal values, how those values will translate into key messages and content for a website

  • Advice on visual identity and how it will be presented in a suite of sales and marketing materials

 

I can work alongside an in-house digital team to ensure that all of the aspects of a new website launch are considered and help to keep the project on track, liaising with agencies and other stakeholders.

EXPERIENCE

I thrive on supporting sustainable, profitable new business by delivering successful marketing and communication campaigns.

I have a Post-Graduate Diploma from the Chartered Institute of Marketing and over 28 years’ experience in the field.   Most of my roles have been in the legal and property sectors, but I have also been a visiting lecturer for CIM courses and worked in an SME to establish a marketing function.  I have operated at director level on an operations board for the last eight years so understand the challenges of leadership and the wider context for marketing and business development strategies.
